Veerle Dejonckheere
Message from Veerle:
“I am very happy to be able to join Iris and her team in her new adventure offering complementary veterinary medicine consults within her practice. This can be for Peacocks veterinary surgery clients but I will also see patients from other practices.
I am a fully qualified veterinary surgeon with an international reputation as an expert in integrated veterinary care established through fifteen years of experience combining conventional medicine and complementary approaches in my professional practice.
I qualified as a veterinary surgeon from the University of Ghent, Belgium in 2001. I worked for two years in a large animal practice in France then came to the UK in 2003. Over the next five years I worked at conventional small animal practices throughout the country, and spent several months as a volunteer with animal charities in Samos and Bhutan. In 2009 I joined the SMART Clinic, Cardiff, one of the first sport medicine specialist centres in the country. My practice there was focused on sports medicine and rehabilitation, leading me to acquire depth in my experience as an acupuncturist. Since 2011 I have been running a thriving referral service offering integrated veterinary care, now including acupuncture, chiropractic care, therapeutic exercise, nutrition and herbal medicine, in the Bath and Bristol area. My aim is to work together with the referring conventional vet to maximise the well-being of the animal at all stages of its life. Mostly I treat dogs, but I also love treating cats. Herbal prescriptions are bespoke and will be dispensed from my own herbal pharmacy using high quality controlled practitioner only formulas. Most insurances will cover this aspect of veterinary care.”
Rata Services
Rata Services offer a traveling surgical service. They perform surgical procedures usually reserved for referral centres, such as orthopaedic procedures at the local practice in Corsham, no need to travel.
Insight Ultrasound Services
We work with Insight, a specialized mobile ultrasound service provided by Natasha and Becky, who bring their advanced expertise and high-spec equipment directly to our practice. This allows us to offer more in-depth diagnostic imaging for your pets without the need to refer them to external hospitals, ensuring they receive the best care in a familiar environment.
For more information on our guest experts get in touch with the practice.
Neutering
Cats
We advise that all cats with outdoor access be neutered. Ideally this is done around 5 months old, when the cat has reached 2 kg in weight.
Neutering is included in the kitten bundle.
Dogs
Neutering does carry some health benefits, so is currently still recommended, especially in female dogs. The ideal age varies a lot depending on the breed, and other factors such as behaviour need to be taken into consideration too.
Members of the Top to tail plan save 10% off neutering.
Contact us to discuss neutering in your dog.
Rabbits
Rabbits are ideally homed in pairs. Neutering can be advised to prevent pregnancies, but also in case of behavioural issues. Contact us to discuss neutering for your rabbit.
Occasionally neutering can be a solution for any small mammal, of any size, book an appointment to discuss.
For more information on Neutering please get in touch with the practice.
