Can you believe that we are three?

Peacock Vets opened the practice doors, situated conveniently in the Martingate Centre, on 15 March 2021. Iris and her then team of five welcomed patients of all shapes and sizes, but mainly dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small, furry friends.

As you would imagine, our independent practice continues to grow with ongoing investment into the practice, such as the recent installation of new air conditioning to make the summer months more bearable for our furry patients; new ultrasound scanning equipment and a specialist surgery light.

We now have eleven friendly and personable staff to help both our human and animal clients. New clients come through our doors every day, and we are delighted that our patient numbers have doubled year on year for the past three years, all benefitting from our free initial consultation.

When deciding to open the practice in Corsham, Iris was keen to use local providers where possible and to become part of the local community. The team are very grateful to be so close to Parsons as we consume many cakes and doughnuts; The Little Kitchen for lunch-time paninis; as well as fruit from May’s Greengrocers to help increase our Vitamin C levels. We also regularly have flowers cheering up the reception and waiting areas from Nicky at Twigs and Willow. Being constantly on her feet and racking up a very large number of steps per day, Iris has also worn out four pairs of shoes from If the Shoe Fits over the past three years! There have also been some very happy pooches who have devoured 504 doggy ice creams from local dairy, Marshfield Farm.

As you would expect, alongside standard vaccination and routine checks, pet travel services and parasite protection, Peacock Vets has carried out a number of routine surgeries, such as neutering, lump removals, and dental procedures – we have extracted 523 teeth! We have also undertaken more complex procedures, including orthopaedic surgery; bladder stone surgery; exploratory laparotomies (a surgical incision into the abdominal cavity); foreign body removals; pyometra treatment (a potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus); caesarean sections and many more operations and procedures.

We strive to treat your pets as we would our own whilst delivering a comprehensive range of veterinary, complementary, and behavioural services. We have had the pleasure of assisting with the births of many puppies and kittens, with the smallest puppy delivered being only 85g. We have also shared the pain of losing some really dear pets, which we know are sadly missed. We understand that pets are part of the family, and we enjoy celebrating your pets with you. We have awarded 39 ‘Pets of the Month,’ giving each winner pride of place on our wall of pet pictures, a certificate, a pet treat specially chosen for them, and a featured post on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

During the past three years, we have been thrilled and extremely grateful to have received numerous thank-you cards, chocolates, biscuits, flowers, and plants that our satisfied patients have given us. There have also been some more personalized gifts, such as a gorgeous peacock mug, Christmas ornaments, photo frames, peacock feathers, and even some peacock-inspired artwork which was hand-painted by some particularly talented clients.
